Now then folks, it's been a while, hasn't it? Basically the absence of posting has been down to me being SO happy with my skincare routine over the past year that I haven't been trying any new products except for one brand and I have been repeat purchasing.
I've been using ranges from Superdrug, which not only are excellent, effective products but are cheap (so much so that I would happily pay more for them if they weren't constantly half-price) and have the Leaping Bunny logo on. This logo indicates that not only has the product not been tested on animals but its ingredients haven't either. Companies that show the Leaping Bunny logo have to be available for independent audits and are renewed on an annual basis (unlike PETA, whose certification does not require audits or anything).
Anyway, lecture over. The reason for this post today is that I have sadly run out of their Naturally Radiant Glycolic Overnight Peel (£3 for 30ml). I have indeed blogged about this little beauty two years ago and not only does my face love it but my hands and feet do too so I need a trip to Superdrug tout suit.
Admittedly, it could have a sexier name but don’t be put off by the words ‘Glycolic’ and ‘Peel’. Glycolic acid is a natural exfoliant (an AHA: Alpha Hydroxyl Acid) derived from sugar cane and is one of the safest AHA’s to use on the skin. Glycolic molecules are smaller than other AHA’s which means they penetrate deeper into the skin and stimulate healthy collagen production. These AHA’s work by dissolving the glue-like substance naturally found in our cells which attaches them to the surface of the skin – hence the dead skin cells are then discarded, leaving even-toned, radiant skin in the morning.

The gel contains kiwi (Vitamin C) and mulberry extract to brighten, even out skin tone and protect against free radicals. The glycolic helps to re-texturise the skin and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles (and not to mention my HUGE pores).
Now I am sure all of you cleanse your face in the mornings but it’s important to wash this off and apply a moisturiser with SPF. Even though it’s a low concentration of glycolic acid, as with all AHA’s, the sloughing off dead skin cells can mean that the new layer of skin needs added protection against the sun and sensitivity.
Seeing as I'm not as young as I used to be, using the product after cleansing isn't enough for my 47 year old skin so I mix a drop of Superdrug Vitamin C Booster (£5 for 30ml) into the moisturising B. Restored Night Cream (£7 for 50ml).
